So this makes me wonder. Generally, do anime fangirls really like their men this girly or do they only like them this way for yaoi purposes? I mean, the one on the left's clothes are pretty feminine, that's why I ask.
Not really. If anything, it's a reaction to the exaggerated macho concept, which happens to have once been prevailant in anime (examples: Berserk, Fist of the North Star, Street Fighter). Also, have you noticed how women tend to like dressing each other up? We've view pretty/feminine features as generally more attractive than masculine looks, particularly in art. Also, in Japanese culture,"girly" men are especially popular, so anime/manga has come to reflect that. It's no coincidence that anime and manga that have pretty men are usually drawn by women, and it's especially true when it comes to yaoi. It's no different than how men are responsible for anime/Western cartoon chicks with ridiculously exaggerated figures.
I just thought I'd ask because I'm actually not much of a fan of the super macho look either for myself. Obviously I don't mean as feminine as the characters in this picture (even though I respect it), I go for more of a cool fantasy style (sort of like this [link] with this hairstyle [link] at the moment), so I guess part of me wonders if women even appreciate that on a real person or if it's just something they like in art. It wouldn't change the way I dress either way, but it's an interesting thought.
